This is the moment a plane came in low and hit a chimney before crashing at a holiday park.

The shocking footage of the light aircraft can be seen clipping the roof before dropping fast.

It falls down extremely low at dramatic speed before attempting to land on the road, but instead crashes.

In the frightening video a woman can be heard screaming 'get them now' and 'move'.

The wreckage became engulfed in flames shortly after.

Both the pilot and passenger managed to escaped the crash, which happened at Isle of Wight Holiday Park near Bembridge, around 2.20pm on Saturday.

They were later treated for minor burns.

One local who was sunbathing in her garden just 20 minutes before said she felt lucky to be alive after the plane cashed into her home and smashed one of her chimneys and left two holes in her roof, according to Isle of Wight County Press.

It is said the plane's engine failed, possibly after hitting a bird.

Grandmother of-two Maxine Cox, 41, was walking from the beach back to her caravan with her family when they heard a pop and looked up to see the aircraft turning and plummeting down.

Her daughter, Kayleigh Foreman, 25, started filming and shouted for her brother, 14, and son, four, to get out of the way, while Maxine ran over and grabbed the boys.

Mum-of-four Maxine, a carer, from Southampton, said: 'It was terrifying. Someone was watching over our boys that day.

'If it had gone ten metres more our boys wouldn't be here - it's crazy!

'We were on the wrong side to see the pilot get out. I'm so glad they weren't seriously hurt.'

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: 'Officers are at the scene as well as colleagues from the fire and ambulance services.

'The plane had two people on board. At this time it is understood one person has suffered minor injuries.'

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said crews found the aircraft 'had suffered extensive damage from the impact and subsequent fire'.

'All occupants had safely exited the aircraft before emergency services arrived.

'Two individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

'Firefighters used a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.'

An air ambulance was also called to the scene but no patients were taken to hospital, Isle of Wight NHS Trust confirmed.

Hampshire police said the holiday park remained open and no roads had been closed.
